Torres del Paine W Trek Itinerary Self-Guided

Hikers with moderate fitness who want the classic Patagonia highlights on established trails — no climbing. Trails are well marked; optional add-ons include ice hike or kayak at Grey.

What to Expect Each Day

W Trek from arrival & welcome briefing to return to Puerto Natales. Daily hikes 5–8 hours.

Welcome to Patagonia! We pick you up at the airport or bus terminal and transfer you to your hotel (included in both Essential and Enhanced). At your accommodation you’ll receive a clear briefing for the trek and final checks. Free time to rest or explore town.

Meals not included.

Early transfer to the park. Register at Laguna Amarga and shuttle to the Welcome Center for check-in. Hike the Ascencio Valley through forest and the final boulder field to the classic Base Torres viewpoint. After your box lunch, return the same way to Torre Central for dinner and rest.

Hiking Time: 7–8 hours • Distance: 20 km / 12.4 miles • Elevation Gain: ~700 m / 2,300 ft

Breakfast and pick up your packed lunch. Follow the lakeshore trail with views of Mount Almirante Nieto and condors. Cross clear streams and continue to Los Cuernos Refuge or the Francés Domes for the night.

Hiking Time: 7–8 hours • Distance: 18 km / 11.2 miles • Elevation Gain: ~150 m / 490 ft
Breakfast, box lunch, and dinner included.

Start early. Leave your backpack at Camp Italiano and ascend into the French Valley to the French Plateau for sweeping views of Los Cuernos, turquoise lagoons, and hanging glaciers on Paine Grande. Return to Italiano and continue to Paine Grande Refuge.

Hiking Time: 7–8 hours • Distance: 14 km / 8.7 miles • Elevation Gain: ~400 m / 1,310 ft
Breakfast, box lunch, and dinner included.

Trail through a narrow valley to Laguna Los Patos, reaching viewpoints of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and Grey Lake icebergs. Descend through forest to Grey Refuge. A short walk (≈10 min) leads to the Grey Glacier viewpoint.

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours • Distance: 11 km / 6.8 miles • Elevation Gain: ~400 m / 1,310 ft
Breakfast, box lunch, and dinner included.
Optional add-ons: Grey Glacier ice hike or Grey Lake kayak.

Hike back to Paine Grande and take the catamaran across Lake Pehoé. Continue your overland connection to return to Puerto Natales and celebrate your W Trek!

Depending on your departure time, our driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport or bus station on time for your next journey. For now, we say goodbye and hope to see you again in the future.
